Jr. Chef Central has reached thousands of kids in the Sacramento Region.  Our classes, camps and school programs are designed to inspire the love of cooking and expose young chefs age 10 - 15 to a variety of culinary techniques, foster an appreciation of cooking at home, and encourage independence and creativity in the kitchen.

Pie Class

This is the fourth in a series of five one-day classes Chef Jon created to inspire a love of cooking.  His workshops expose young chefs to a variety of culinary techniques, foster an appreciation of cooking at home, and encourage independence and creativity in the kitchen.   Each workshop was thoughtfully designed to cover a range of cooking techniques using ingredients that are affordable and readily available.  Participants will leave with a shopping list, recipes, a sample of the day’s creations, and most importantly, the lifelong confidence that is necessary in the kitchen.  Previous experience in Basic Camp is beneficial but not mandatory. 

PIES:  Nothing combines as many baking techniques as pie making.  Chef Jon will spread his love of pie making in this fun and informative class.  Young chefs will learn how to make traditional and individual hand pies.  Techniques for various fillings and toppings will be taught including cooked fruit, custard, savory, streusel, whipped cream, and lattice
