This is the third of a series of one-day classes Chef Jon created to inspire a love of cooking. His workshops expose young chefs to a variety of culinary techniques, foster an appreciation of cooking at home, and encourage independence and creativity in the kitchen. Each workshop was thoughtfully designed to cover a range of cooking techniques using ingredients that are affordable and readily available. Participants will leave with a shopping list, recipes, a sample of the day’s creations, and most importantly, the lifelong confidence that is necessary in the kitchen. Previous experience in Basic Camp is beneficial but not mandatory.
BREADS: Understanding the manipulation of yeast dough is the experience of creating life. Participants will make bread, pizza, bagels, and pretzels. Have your young chef bake on the weekend, then pack wonderful home-baked lunches during the week.
