This is the first of a series of one-day classes Chef Jon created to inspire a love of cooking. His workshops expose young chefs to a variety of culinary techniques, foster an appreciation of cooking at home, and encourage independence and creativity in the kitchen. Each workshop was thoughtfully designed to cover a range of cooking techniques using ingredients that are affordable and readily available. Participants will leave with a shopping list, recipes, a sample of the day’s creations, and most importantly, the lifelong confidence that is necessary in the kitchen. Previous experience in Basic Camp is beneficial but not mandatory.
PASTA: One of the most comforting of all foods, with its wide variety of forms, flavors, and its simplicity. Young chefs will learn the basics of pasta making by creating cut, filled and rolled pastas. They will also make delicious, kid-friendly sauces including marinara and pesto.
